How long does installation take?

There is no reliable universal installation duration; OTEC should confirm a project-specific schedule after reviewing quantity, system complexity, site access and readiness. Time can be affected by the number and size of openings, glass weight, panel configuration, floor level, lifting route, substrate condition, weather, protection, other trades, delivery sequence and required adjustments. A simple replacement and a multi-storey project should not be treated as the same job.

Fabrication and delivery are separate programme items from on-site installation. A realistic schedule should show dependencies, including approved drawings, site measurement, material availability, completed openings, safe access and handover inspection. Changes after approval can also move the date.

Decision points

  • Owner: Share the required move-in or opening date and understand which milestones depend on other trades.
  • Architect/designer: Freeze coordinated details and schedules early, especially for repeated units, large glass and special interfaces.
  • Contractor/builder: Prepare openings, storage, lifting, protection, power, access and sequencing before the delivery is booked.
