In many cases, existing windows can be replaced with limited disruption, but no supplier can confirm that outcome without inspecting the opening and surrounding construction. The replacement approach depends on the existing frame, masonry or concrete reveal, sill condition, waterproofing, dimensions, access and whether the new system fits the available depth. Hidden damage or irregular openings may require additional preparation.
A site review should distinguish between a straightforward frame replacement and work that also involves plaster, tiles, paint, interior finishes or exterior sealants. Drawings and photos can support an initial discussion, while measured site conditions are more useful before fabrication.
Decision points
- Owner: Decide how much interior and exterior disturbance is acceptable and report leaks, corrosion or movement before the visit.
- Architect/designer: Check the proposed profile depth, sightlines, sill, drainage, glass and interface with the existing wall.
- Contractor/builder: Plan protection, removal, substrate repair, temporary weather control, sealants and final making-good works.
Compare possible configurations through the casement window system and sliding window system. For a replacement assessment, contact OTEC with the property location and photos.
