Can OTEC customize systems for unique architectural designs?

Yes, OTEC can review customized aluminum and glass requirements, subject to the drawings, opening sizes, performance needs, available components and fabrication feasibility. Customization may involve configuration, dimensions, glass, finish, hardware, panel arrangement or interfaces with the building. It should not be understood as an automatic agreement to fabricate every concept or as a substitute for structural and installation coordination.

The earlier the review starts, the easier it is to identify conflicts between visual intent and practical requirements such as panel weight, drainage, operating clearance, maintenance access, support, tolerances and transport. A buildable alternative may preserve the design goal while changing a detail.

Decision points

  • Owner: Clarify the experience and priorities that must be preserved, including view, light, ventilation, privacy and maintenance.
  • Architect/designer: Provide coordinated drawings, opening schedules, design loads or requirements, finish intent, glass and hardware preferences.
  • Contractor/builder: Confirm substrate, tolerances, access, lifting, sequencing, protection and responsibilities at every interface.

For wide-opening concepts, review the aluminum folding window system and selected OTEC projects. Contact OTEC with the concept drawings before finalizing details.
