A quotation based on a clear brief, drawings or photos is different from a full technical survey or a remote project that requires additional coordination. The written quotation should state the scope and assumptions used to prepare it.
Providing better information usually makes the first review more useful: include location, opening sizes, quantities, preferred systems, glass, finish, hardware, photos, drawings and target schedule. If the project changes after review, the quotation may need to be revised.
Decision points
- Owner: Ask whether the requested service is a standard quotation or a separately scoped visit, measurement or design exercise.
- Architect/designer: Mark provisional dimensions and identify the information still requiring confirmation before pricing is finalized.
- Contractor/builder: State access, site readiness, logistics and installation expectations so hidden scope is not priced accidentally.
