Facade system planning

Curtain Wall Systems Planning Guide

Curtain wall planning starts with the architectural intent, supporting structure, facade interfaces and the project information needed for qualified technical review. The final configuration remains project-specific.

Define the facade intent

Record the proposed facade zones, visual grid, opaque and glazed areas, entrances, corners and connections to adjoining wall systems.

Use coordinated elevations and sections to communicate the intended module and its relationship to the building form.

Coordinate the building interfaces

Identify slab edges, structural supports, waterproofing transitions, roof and parapet conditions, drainage paths and adjacent finishes.

Keep structural, weathering, fire-safety and regulatory decisions with the qualified professionals responsible for the specific project.

Prepare information for technical review

Useful inputs include facade elevations, sections, typical details, project location, building height, known design criteria and the intended glass and finish direction.

Do not rely on generic performance figures: system selection and verification should follow the approved project criteria and supporting documents.
